  • Extremely professional staff and doctors at Bajaj Eye Care Centre. I got a SMILE procedure done on 24th Dec 2019 to get rid of my high power in both eyes ( minus 7.5 in right eye and minus 7.75 in left eye). Dr Rajiv Bajaj changed my life and I finally got rid of bulky specs, constant dry eyes and the hassle of contact lenses. It’s been more than 2 months now and I am able to properly see everything and just got my 6/6 proof in eye check.up recently. Cannot recommend Dr Rajiv enough for eye procedures specially SMILE considering how rare and amazing this procedure is as compared to regular LASIK procedure. Thank you everyone at Bajaj Eye Centre for changing my life for the better!

    LASIK FAQ’s

    Q. Am i an appropriate candidate for removal of glasses?

    A.

A preoperative examination is required to answer this question by your doctor. The examination includes….
    1. determination of your exact spectacle power.
    2. A computerized analysis of your cornea determining its thickness, overaal shape, to rule out any abnormality in cornea etc….called PENTACAM evaluation.

    Q. What are the different types of procedures available at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE?

    A.

BAJAJ EYE CENTRE offers a complete range of the procedures …..

    • PRK ( photo refractive keratotomy )
    • LASIK ( conventional lasik )
    • SBK LASIK ( thin flap –90 microns thickness flap lasik )
    • BLADELESS LASIK ( also called bladefree lasik or femtolasik )
    • SMILE ( totally blade free and flap free –the most advanced –third generation procedure –available only at very select institutions because SMILE procedure is done on a femtosecond laser machine called ZEISS -VISUMAX capable of doing SMILE procedure. Since the installations are very limited any body saying / offering SMILE procedure has to taken very cautiously.
    • PRESBYOND ( near sight or presbyopia correction procedure done in patients after 40 years of age group )

    Q. What type of numbers can be corrected with lasik?

    A.

All types of refractive errors can be corrected with lasik or blade free lasik. The EXCIMER LASER machine MEL-80 ( CARL ZEISS GERMANY ) available at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE is a fifth generation excimer laser machine capable of removing glasses with un matched efficacy and accuracy. Even high cylindrical or pure cylindrical corrections are achieved with highest accuracy.

    Q. What type of procedure will suit me?

    A.

This depends upon the type of refractive error, thickness of the cornea, state of the eyes in terms of dryness and some other parameters, profession of the patient etc and has to be judged individually by the examining doctor.

    Q. Are these procedures painful or is there any pain during the procedure?

    A.

No, these procedures are practically painless .

    Q. What is LASIK?

    A.

LASIK, the short form of laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis, is a surgical procedure done to correct the vision. The correction of eyesight is done in patients suffering from myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. It is one of the most frequently performed surgery all-overs the world with a very high success rate. This procedure provides prolonged freedom from glasses and contact lenses to the patient. This surgery comes under the refractive correction procedure as it helps in correcting the refractive errors in vision. The person may experience immediate enhancement in the vision.

    Q. How doe LASIK surgery performed?

    A.

LASIK surgery is performed through an excimer laser. It is a high energy beam which is applied to the corneal tissue thus reshaping it. The surgery is done through computer-controlled laser for high accuracy and precision and the energy so transferred to the corneal tissue causes corneal reshaping by vaporizing a small amount of tissue equivalent to refractive power of the glasses worn by the patient. Any lasik laser procedure involve two steps. In the first step, a very thin and hinged corneal flap is formed with the help of a microkeratome. In a blade free lasik procedure even this step is done utilizing another laser called femto laser thus making it more precise and totally blade free. In the second step, the flap is retracted aside to expose the underlying corneal tissue and the excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea by removing a small amount of corneal tissue. After reshaping the cornea, the flap is then repositioned on the cornea.

    Q. What are the expected results from LASIK surgery?

    A.

The results are simply awesome. Patients are able to see within a couple of hours, mostly within a couple of minutes. Patients are no more dependent on glasses or contacts. Most patients are extremely happy with the outcome. However, the results may vary from individual to individual. Various factors affect the quality of results obtained through LASIK surgery. To achieve the best results, a thorough ophthalmological examination is a prerequisite to establishing candidature to undergo LASIK surgery. The experience of the surgeon and the technology used to perform LASIK surgery are other important factors that may make a difference on LASIK outcome. We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE have very experienced lasik surgeons who have performed thousands of successful lasik procedures.
